Wishlist – Wildfox Couture

My, oh, my! I would like to say I’m returning from a holiday-induced blogging hiatus, but that wouldn’t be the truth. Truth is, I’ve had a bit of a creative blank recently and haven’t been feeling much like writing…but it’s a new month and I’m determined to get my creative mojo back into gear any way I can!

So a friend of mine is a massive fan of American label Wildfox, and the more of her budding collection I see, the more I have to agree that the clothes are something special. The brand has a very strong personality, with quirky and cute designs and a dose of vintage nostalgia and unabashed girliness which just makes you want to grab your closest friends, have a sleepover and reminisce about times gone by…

There’s very little that could persuade me to spend over £10 on a t-shirt, and some of Wildfox’s cotton pieces are way up their past the £60 mark. But through the wonder of eBay – and a great little store called AdHoc which, thankfully, is in my neck of the woods – you needn’t have to pay that much for a slice of Wildfox style. If, however,  you’re not phased by the prices, then check out their website.

Wednesday Wishlist – 27/06

ImageThis has been a bit of a crazy week. Crazy, but good, for sure. I started a new internship on Monday, at an online fashion publication called Fashion 156, and have spent the last three days frantically covering the SS13 menswear shows (from the comfort of a desk, that is.) However, I managed to find time to do a little Wednesday wishing, and here’s what caught my fancy.

Playsuits are perfect for summer, and this sequined beige one, £50, River Island, is the perfect balance of daytime cool and evening glam.

I’ve been yearning for a grey t-shirt or vest of some kind (no idea why!) and love the casual design of this asymmetric tee, £14, Topshop. Its long back would be great for wearing over leggings and shorts.

This swan and starry sky print dress, £29.50, by Billie and Blossom at Dorothy Perkins is my favourite find of the week. I love the print, and it would be perfect come rain or shine, summer or winter. Definitely one for the payday list.

Another pretty dress that tickled my fancy was this studded bodycon, £27.99, New Look. And lastly, these H&M moccasin shoes, £14.99. Animal friendly imitation suede, these are a timeless design, perfect for festivals and summers in the city.

That’s it from me for now. Enjoy the rest of your Wednesdays!

Wednesday Wishlist – 20/06

ImageI can’t believe it’s nearly the end of June already! Craziness. Anyway. Today’s wishlist is a little different from the usual scrapbook of high street finds. This week, I’ve been lusting after some items from eBay store-turned-global phenomenon, Nasty Gal. Their clothes are an eclectic mix of pretty grunge and sexy, laid-back cool, and here are my favourite looks from their recent additions.

(From left to right) I love the unique cut of this mesh detailed, cut out dress, £56.11. Teamed with some killer heels and smokey eyes, this would be an outfit made for a night out to remember. The bat wing sleeves and fringed detail of the black knit dress, £49.74, is given a sexy boost with cut out shoulders, and would be perfect come rain or shine.

I’ve been looking for the perfect ‘muscle shirt’ for some time now, and I think I might just have found it! I love the faded femme symbol as an alternative to the currently over-exposed cross sign on this casual grey tee, £31.88.

Backpacks have worked their way up the bag hierarchy recently and are sitting pretty at the top of many a fashionista’s must-have lists. This fringed rucksack, £41.45, is a perfect example of one of the season’s hottest styles.

Last but not least, I was drawn again to the individual cut of this lace, open back dress, £94.37. A little bit on the pricey side but the cut really is beautiful.

So there you have it! Check out the other gorgeous pieces Nasty Gal have to offer. I dare you not to crave oversized jumpers, biker boots and denim knicker-shorts once you’ve had a peek!

Happy Wednesdays!

Wednesday Wishlist – 06/06

ImageDespite a long weekend of miserable weather, I refuse to give up on the British summer, and hope that the sun will come back out soon! In the meantime, here are the pieces I’ve been lusting after this week…

H&M for Water is a small but noticeable collection that has recently hit the shelves of the Swedish fashion retailer. I love the tropical print and natural textures of the range, and this bikini, £24.99, is my favourite item. Cos you can never have too many bikinis, right?

Staying with this season’s Hawaiian print trend is this gorgeous halter-neck bodice, £42, by London designer Tara Starlet. I’ve admired a few of their pieces before, and this vintage inspired top is one to add to the pile.

New Look has come up trumps this week with these two stunning bags. The mint green bag, £12.99, would be the perfect accessory day or night, and the bow and heart-shaped padlock details on this shell pink bag by Kelly Brook, £19.99, make this the ultimate in pretty feminine purses.

Finally, courtesy of the New Look shoe gallery, are these adorable peep toe jelly wedges, £14.99. Also available in black, and at a bargain price, there’s hardly an excuse not to snap these up.

Hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend…only three days til the next weekend now!

Wednesday Wishlist – 30/05

ImageI spent the best part of today trawling the shops at Westfield – unfortunately, to no avail. A combination of too-hot weather and too many people just made the shopping trip a chore, and I came back empty handed. But there were a few pieces that caught my eye on the rails.

Summer is all about florals for me, and these floral print shorts, £35, Topshop, have a particularly pretty pattern. River Island were also on trend with this mixed print mini-skirt, £30.

Marc B bags have been a favourite of mine for a few years now, and their Lolita bag, £49, Topshop, is the epitome of ladylike style. Also a bag worth a mention is this adorable bow detail bag, £25, Topshop.

Last but not least are these pink patent wedges, £24.99, from the new Kelly Brook collection at New Look. Perfect for summer!

Only two days til the weekend everyone!

Wednesday Wishlist – 16/05/12

ImageUsually my wishlists tend to feature at least one ‘realistic’ item – that is, an item I could actually afford to buy. Which kind of defeats the idea of a wishlist…which is why today’s compilation of pined-after pieces are far from affordable for me at the moment. Here’s to hoping!

I’ve liked Tara Starlet’s stuff for a while now, and when the beautiful Mollie of the Saturdays rocked this co-ordinating tie top, £40, and shorts, £50, ensemble on the cover of Cosmo this month, I knew this would be a look to add to my wishlist. So summery!

This week, my quest for the perfect denim dress continues, and has reaped some rewards in the form of this belted shirt dress, £50, from Oasis. It’s very similar to a denim dress that caught my eye a few weeks back, but this one combines my love of denim with the utility dress style, a favourite of mine at the moment. Definitely a strong contender.

Wedges are my ideal summer shoe, and I love the ones with a pretty length of ribbon to tie up your ankle. These lovely blush pink wedges, £48, Miss Selfridge, would go perfectly with the denim dress. Here’s to hoping we meet again in the sale!

H&M have really upped their accessories game this season, and with a collaboration with Japan Vogue’s editor Anna Dello Russo on the horizon, it’s set to get better and better. I love the vibrant turquoise edges of this straw clutch, £12.99, and the price is closer to my current budget.

However, there is something on this list that could make the leap from wish to reality, and it’s these fabulous skull earrings by kooky jewellers, Kitsch & Bows. At a bank-balance friendly £6, they’re a treat I can afford to throw cash at this month. Yay!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Wednesday Wishlist – 09/05/12

ImageMy oh my, isn’t this weather horrible? What better way to cheer myself up than by lusting after the week’s best pics of new arrivals? Having gone a bit of a spree last week to ‘reward’ myself for finishing my studies, my funds have run a little dry…and with rent and bills due I’ve definitely got more important things to spend my money on! But one can dream…

Ignoring today’s yukky turnout, the weather should hopefully be getting a little warmer soon. For me, that means I can finally wear pretty shirts without layering cardigans and jumpers on top. This mint green blouse by Goldie for Topshop, £49, is pick of the pack for me right now. I love the bead embellished collar…definitely a crafty customization idea to think about.

I love hummingbirds, and they offer a pretty alternative to the usual prints of the tropical trend. This Oasis t-shirt dress, £45, is the perfect summer dress, ideal as day wear, and smart enough to wear in the evening too.

Pink is one of my very favourite colours, and the ‘utility’ dress is a fave shape of the season. River Island combine these two loves in this simple but stylish light pink utility dress, £30. Once again, an ideal piece for any occasion.

Scarf print – also known as baroque – is big news this season. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s a little too bright and bold for me, but this sleeveless shirt, £26, from Next, might just tip the scale. It’d be perfect with skinny black jeans and boots.

On my travels yesterday, I came across this jumper, displayed temptingly along the wall of the stairs down to the menswear section in River Island. Short of time and being a little silly about going to the menswear floor alone (I know…) I resisted, but I might just have to indulge. I love, love, love the space print trend this season, and this cozy looking jumper, £30, definitely gets it right.

Enjoy your Wednesdays people!

Wednesday Wishlist – 02/05/12

ImageThis week is another mish mash of items that have caught my ever-browsing eye. Despite the less than perfect weather, I can’t stop myself from looking at pretty summer clothes, as if by buying them I might somehow coax the sun out from behind its clouds.

Ombre is definitely a trend that has grown on me this season. As it’s been pretty much all over the high street, it’s been a hard one to ignore. Warehouse always boast beautiful, high quality clothes and this striped silk blouse, £50, is no exception. I love the pink and yellow together, and the batwing arms emphasize the feminine appeal.

I practically live in jeans, so I like to have a fair few pairs to choose from. Topshop is my first port of call when I need/want a new pair, and these acid wash skinny jeans, £38, are a welcome departure from my usual style. Teamed with a bright neon top and some high top trainers, they’d complete any 90s look.

River Island also offer some very lovely clothes, although their basic items are usually a little out of my price range. However, this tribal print crop top, £15, seems a worthy purchase. It’d see me through the summer months and would be a keeper for festival season. Ideal for casual day wear.

Denim’s revival continues with this belted shirt dress, £45, from Oasis. Perfect for summer days spent in the park (be careful of pesky grass stains though!) and just in time for barbeque season. I like.

And today’s piece de resistance is this gorgeous tropical print dipped hem dress, £29.99, from New Look. Being quite short, I’ve always been wary of dresses or skirts that fall very far below mid-thigh, but the pattern and style of this dress has won me over. I can already see myself wearing it for evening strolls along the beach, and summer nights garden parties…

Bring on the shopping!
