As the third day kicks off in Cannes, here’s a look at who I voted best dressed at yesterday’s affair. It was the beautiful Marion Cotillard, who starred in Rust & Bone, which was screened at the festival yesterday. Her first look of the day was low-key feminine elegance – the pretty peach Dior dress was lovely matched with minimal make-up and a side swept ponytail. The panels on the top half of the dress, and the gold belt cinching at the waist provided some interesting details.
Overall, I just think this was a prettier, more natural look than some of the overly extravagant gowns we’ve seen over the last two days. The only thing I’m not sure about are the yellow shoes – nude ones may have been a better choice.
Freida Pinto also had another good dress day, in a yellow Atelier Versace dress. Disappointment of the day came from Jada Pinkett Smith, whose studded Versace dress just didn’t quite cut it.
Let’s see what day three of the festival will bring!
On top of my fashion obsession, I’m something of a film fanatic too, so Cannes is the perfect combination of the two and is definitely one of the highlights of the film festival circuit. Along with the exciting films debuting at this season’s event, there are beautiful dresses aplenty, as the glamorous celebrities step out.
The festivities kicked off yesterday with Wes Anderson’s entry, Moonrise Kingdom. Tilda Swinton, Diane Kruger and Jane Fonda were among the gorgeously dressed actresses, but it was Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto who really caught my eye in a Michael Angel gown. The jewelled bodice and meringue pink skirt looked as sweet as that sounds, and a daring split at the thigh added sex appeal.
Diane Kruger’s stunning mint green dress by Giambattista Valli was definitely a show stealer too. Disappointments of the night? Jessica Chastain and Lana Del Rey, whose dull dresses didn’t quite live up to the glamorous expectations of the evening.
